School-Based Counselling Support

At Jotmans Hall Primary School, we recognise that children can sometimes experience worries, changes or difficulties that affect their emotional wellbeing and their ability to enjoy school and learning.

We are able to offer school-based counselling for children who may benefit from some additional emotional support. Our counsellor provides a safe, confidential and supportive space where children can talk, explore their feelings and develop strategies to help them manage worries and challenges.

Counselling may be helpful for children experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, friendship or family difficulties, bereavement, changes at home or other emotional concerns.

Counselling is usually offered for between 6 and 12 weekly sessions, depending on the individual needs of the child. The length of support will be considered carefully to ensure that it is appropriate and beneficial for each child.

If you feel your child may benefit from counselling support, please contact the school or speak to a member of staff. We can discuss your concerns with you, explain the referral process and consider the most appropriate support for your child.
